If you are trying to cut costs for a wedding, holiday or special event, then you might be considering doing your own floral arrangements. Even if you do not have the expertise to do it all on your own, you can buy all the floral supplies for your florist, and cut costs that way.

If you choose to do floral supplies on your own, then you probably do not know the basics of what floral supplies you will need to get started. This is a little subjective, especially as it depends on your flower arrangement, but here are some little things to get you going.

As far as floral supplies go, you should never be without glass vases. Glass vases come in all shapes and sizes, and they can be used for practically anything. No matter the event, a glass vase can bring in the finishing touches and make any arrangement look exquisite.

For smaller arrangements that do not need a container, such as corsages and boutonnieres for prom, then you need something other than glass vases. You will need a lot of pins, and preferably pins in every color in order to hide the head.

If you do elect to go the route of the vase, then some vase fillers can go a long way towards making your arrangement look professional. Many different floral supplies work in this capacity. You can get gel beads, polished rocks, gems or even colored marbles to create a stunning design and look for your arrangement.

For larger arrangements, you might need boxes instead of glass vases. This way, you could do a longer arrangement for your windowsill, and match it to the rest of the room. With this arrangement, the floral supplies you will need will be something more like liners and trays. You can even find decorative mesh liners in a variety of colors.

If you are having a florist create the floral arrangement for you, then you do not need to worry about a lot of the flower preparation tools. However, if you are doing it all on your own, then you will need things like stem cutters, cooler buckets and flower preservatives to prolong the life of your flowers.

Think about your floral needs in order to determine the type of floral supplies you will need. If you are doing them yourself, you will need more floral supplies than you would otherwise. However, if you are hiring a florist, then you can easily match the rest of your event by providing the florist with your own matching floral supplies.

With floral arrangements being used at almost all occasions, its important to know all the tricks when using floral supplies. Additional items that you can to use for occasions include glass vases, wet or dry floral foam, and decorative candles. With a few tips you will be able to create great, professional arrangements.
